Frequently Asked Questions

What will happen during my initial consultation?

We use the initial consultation to collect information about your immigration situation. With more accurate information, we are better able to determine how to help you and how much your needs should cost. Most importantly, we want to help you understand all of your options. After reviewing the facts with you, our attorneys can guide you in how best to move forward.

How much will it cost?

We have established standard fees for most immigration issues. Without knowing your specific situation, it is impossible to offer a useful quote. However, we have found that when combining skill with pricing, we offer an extremely competitive value to our clients. For further details, please see our Immigration Attorney Fees pricing guide.

Do you offer payment plans?

Our primary concern is ensuring that immigrants receive the assistance they need from qualified attorneys. In many circumstances, we offer payment plans that allow immigrants to begin their cases without having to save up for the required fees. Feel free to ask us about payment options.

Will I meet with an attorney or a paralegal?

At Joseph McGregor & Associates Inc, a paralegal never conducts client interviews or initial consultations. While our paralegals are talented, we feel it is important for our attorneys to interact with clients as often as possible. When you come to our office, you will meet with a real attorney, not a paralegal (although a paralegal may be present during an interview to assist the consulting attorney).

Do you have appointments available on the weekends?

Yes, we regularly schedule Saturday consultations by appointment.

How do you determine what to do?

We do not write the laws; we simply communicate to our clients what the laws are, and we help our clients by predicting how USCIS or an immigration judge may rule on a certain issue. Our primary goal is to help immigrants stay in this country. Sometimes, however, the costs associated with that goal are high and the likelihood of success low. We feel the obligation to not waste our clients' time or money, so we will honestly and frankly explain options so that our clients can make the most informed decision possible.

Do I have to live in Dallas, or Texas?

No. For most immigration issues it does not matter where the client lives. U.S. Immigration Law is a federal jurisdiction practice; thus, our attorneys can practice nationwide without regard to state licensing. We help clients throughout Texas, we have clients in many states outside of Texas, and we even have clients scattered throughout the world. However, some matters are best handled by local attorneys. We will be the first to let you know when such matter exist.

At the moment, since our home base is in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, we most often cater to clients in Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Garland, Plano, Richardson, Allen, DeSoto, Waxahachie, McKinney, Grand Prarie, Denton, Irving, Carrollton, Grapevine, and Rockwall.

We also service Central Texas--primarily Bell County, which includes Temple, Belton, and Killeen.

We are currently opening an office in Harlingen, Texas to service our growing clientele in Harlingen, Brownsville, McAllen, Mission, Edinburg, Raymondville, Port Isabel, South Padre, Pharr, and Los Fresnos.
